Request for Proposal

 

For the 2009-2010 Special Projects contract year, Gulfcoast North Area Health Education Center, Inc. (GNAHEC) is accepting proposals from organizations in our five county service area: Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, Hernando and Citrus counties. The intent is to fund worthwhile projects directly related to our mission of connecting students to careers, professionals to communities and communities to better health. We inspire, train, recruit and retain a diverse and broad range of health professionals to practice in communities where the need is greatest.

Each proposal must also include a Tobacco Prevention and Cessation educational component with an emphasis on the following in order to be considered for funding approval: 

  1. Support and development of culturally appropriate community health promotion, disease prevention and Community Health Worker outreach activities for the multiethnic/multicultural populations.

  1. Training for students and practicing health professionals in medical, nursing, public health and other health fields in targeted minority populations.

  1. Disease prevention and education opportunities for students residing in the GNAHEC service areas.

The deadline for submission of the Project Proposal is April 1, 2008.  The GNAHEC Board of Directors, Special Projects Committee will evaluate abstracts to determine the project’s appropriateness and how it compliments our organization’s mission and goals. Proposals requesting continued funding will only be considered where previous year(s) achievement(s) is/are clearly and succinctly documented. Acceptance of your project will be determined by January 30, 2010.  Awarded projects will be funded from Febraury 1, 2010 through June 30, 2010. 

Project Proposals should include a narrative describing the purpose and how it interfaces and/or compliments GNAHEC’s mission.  The project’s total budget and the dollars being requested from GNAHEC must be included.  Please limit your abstract to no more than five typewritten pages (including any/all supporting documents if used). Please review and follow the directions found on the Abstract of Proposed Project form provided at the link below when submitting your Project Abstract.  All project abstracts should be emailed to Cindy Delgado at cdelgado@gnahec.org. Gulfcoast North AHEC will be happy to answer any questions you may have in completing the requirements for the project proposal. 

The maximum award will be $10,000. However, request for lesser amounts are accepted. Approved projects will be required to submit regular project progress reports and appropriate data as specified in a Letter of Agreement.
