Osteoporosis Presentations

The Florida Department of Health has identified osteoporosis prevention and education as a priority for adults and youth throughout Florida. Gulfcoast North AHEC has readily agreed to provide training for their service area of Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties. These presentations are intended to promote public awareness of the causes of osteoporosis, options for prevention, the value of early detection and possible treatments including the benefits and risks of those treatments.

One in two women and one in eight men will suffer from osteoporosis. Let the adult education program “Families Building Strong Bones” teach you how to build stronger bones for you and your loved ones future.

“Food for Thought” is a high school program, which targets adolescents’ needs by illustrating the severity of eating disorders, the dangers of obesity and encouraging healthy nutritional habits.

Let’s help keep middle school-ers “Fit for Life” as the students learn the importance of nutrition, exercise and other healthy habits like avoiding alcohol, tobacco and too much caffeine.

Join “MR.BONES” and his friends: “Cal Calcium,” “Eddie Exercise,” and “D the Vitamin” as they teach our second and third graders how to keep their bones healthy, safe and strong in “The Bone Zone.”
