Why an AHEC Rotation?

Gulfcoast North AHEC coordinates the placement of health professions students in rural and medically underserved rotations to expose them to the rewards and challenges of working with the medically needy – and possibly influence their career decisions. Research shows that health profession students who rotate through medically underserved sites are more likely to return to those communities to practice.

Benefits of choosing an AHEC Rotation include:

  • Assistance with finding rewarding placements in medically underserved sites
  • Possible mileage reimbursement
  • Housing accommodations in Citrus County
  • Links to community partners who can help you in your future career
  • Valuable clinical rotations that can help you decide if a career working with the medically underserved is right for you
