Gulfcoast North Area Health Education (GNAHEC) offers a FREE Tobacco Cessation program, called Tools to Quit. The program is designed by ex-tobacco users for the sole purpose of helping people permanently break their tobacco addiction. This FREE program offers a combination of counseling and FREE Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) to create the best results. GNAHEC’s Tools to Quit program is offered in the 5 counties we serve: Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus.
You are 6 times more likely to be successful using a comprehensive tobacco cessation treatment plan than quitting on your own!
Services provided by the Tobacco Cessation Specialist include:
- One on one consultation
- Group counseling and support
- Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT)
- Behavioral modification
- Discussion of Pharmacotherapy options
- Special Counseling for pregnant smokers
A trained Tobacco Cessation Specialist (TCS) provides counseling and encouragement to help the client through the process of quitting. During the first session, patient assessments are completed, and the TCS assists patients in creating a treatment plan based on the patient’s needs, triggers and barriers. Together with the client, they set a Quit date and take steps each week towards quitting.
